When scammers attack. Don’t be fooled.

When scammers attack. Don’t be fooled.

Friends, today I experienced for myself what it’s like to become an object of fraud.

Thanks to my knowledge, professionalism and ability to reason logically, I came out of the situation with dignity!

↓ More details:

An unfamiliar number called me and the voice introduced itself as the manager of Kaspi Bank. He began to ask if I had left an application for a loan in Aktau? After my negative response, he said that in order to block suspicious activities with my account, I urgently need to install an application, the link to which he will send to WhatsApp. It immediately became clear to me that this was a “scam,” but I wanted to bring the scoundrel to light! I asked him a few questions:

What department and section does he work in?

How did he know about applying for a loan?

What position does he hold in the bank?

Where is his office and where can I go to clarify the situation?

These questions puzzled the caller and he hung up.

❕Arm yourself with the following information:

Fraudsters will always ask you to perform some action (download, install, tell a code, etc.)! A real bank employee can only ask clarifying questions to which you will answer “Yes” or “No.”

For example, scammers claim that in order to block suspicious transactions on your card, you need to enter data into the system such as IIN, a three-digit code on the back of the card, bank card or account details. Or a code sent to your phone from an SMS message. Or, for example, scammers may ask you to change your password in a mobile banking application, download any applications, or follow a link sent to your phone.

Do not give them any information under any circumstances, do not download applications, or follow dubious links.

Fraudsters speak well, competently and clearly. They try to confuse users and use a variety of methods to do this. It’s impossible to predict what they’ll come up with next time. To protect yourself and your savings, experts recommend immediately pressing the red button and ending the phone conversation.
